Overview
On the Giza Plateau in Cairo, you will find the pyramids built between 2600-2400 BCE. This ancient complex includes the three great pyramids of Khufu (Cheops), Menkaure, and Khafre, as well as smaller satellite pyramids that served as tombs for pharaohs' family members.
There's also the enigmatic Great Sphinx, carved from a single limestone monolith, representing a mythical creature with a human head, lion's body, bull's tail, and eagle's wings.
The National Museum houses a collection of over 150,000 artifacts, including pharaohs' sarcophagi, mummies, everyday objects, and more. The Papyrus Museum has a vast collection of ancient Egyptian art.
