Overview
Luxor is home to a significant portion of Ancient Egypt's cultural heritage. The construction of the Karnak Temple lasted for 2,000 years. Each ruler added new sanctuaries and tried to make them more luxurious than the previous ones. The temple consists of an avenue of sphinxes with ram heads, massive pylons, 33 halls, and temples. On the south side of the temple is the Sacred Lake and the Scarab Beetle.
